Sky Garage

Sky garages are a rising trend in luxury high-rises offering residents the convenience and exclusivity of parking their cars directly in their penthouses. The car is driven into a designated elevator bay, and then lifted to the apartment level via an automated system. It is then parked in a private garage or display area connected to the residence. These garages often feature glass partitions or open layouts, allowing the car to be viewed from within the home, blending it into the overall interior design as a luxury feature. Other times the car can be placed directly in the living space as a showpiece - of course it cannot be used, a v12 engine sure sounds great but the associated smell of exhaust gasses is not something you want to have in a luxury living room!

Translucent Marble

Translucent stone is natural stone which is specially prepared to allow light to pass through it while still maintaining its color and texture. The most common types of stone include onyx, quartzite and the subject of today's post - marble.
The stone is then outfitted with LED-lit backpanel which emits light that is visible through the stone highlighting its natural structure resulting in an absolute stunning nighttime display.

Sky Villas

One of the most recent developments in the endless race to further elevate human experience, the Sky Villa.
This concept combines the grandeur and space of a traditional villa with the elevated location atop high-rise building. Thus it offers both the privacy and exclusivity and the absolutely stunning vantage point to maximize the views - a particular appeal in the city of landmarks which is Dubai.
Sky Villas are becoming a staple in the luxury residential sector in UAE so surely we will be looking at them on more occassions. For the moment - enjoy today's examples.

Framing Landmarks

Dubai is the city of landmarks with a steady record of building true architectural marvels. Having a vantage point on these adds significant value to any real estate property. Best way to maximise that potential is to design in a way that frames these views creating a stunning backdrop and emphasizing the identity of the space. Framing can we done by architecture of the villa itself, through symmetrically placed pergolas, shading structures overhead and appropriate planting (especially palm trees are great for this). Another great way to enhance the effect is placing convergence lines within the design leading the eye to the view - for example the lines of a pool. Well-placed still water will also reflect the skyline doubling the effect.
